Meditation
Meditation has been used for centuries by many walks of life as a means of relieving themselves from stress and the daily grind. Sometimes we are not aware of the mental thought activity we are engaged in on a daily basis and how all this thought process can affect all areas of oneself. Meditation is a form of relaxing and calming the mind, clearing the mind from all thoughts allowing us to focus without distraction. Meditation allows our thoughts to become calm, focused and leaves us feeling rejuvenated. The practice of meditation can significantly change our thought process. We find we have an increased awareness, feel more relaxed and have a far better mental focus and clarity. Meditation practiced often will diminish our random thoughts substantially.
Meditation is used for various reasons such as learning to focus, relief of stress, spiritual awareness, healing and health benefits. For those of you who are interested in
your spiritual growth, meditation is a wonderful experience in helping you to connect with your true selves and the Spiritual Divine. Meditation is an adventure to self discovery, learning who you are in mind, body and spirit. It can be used to connect and communicate with the spiritual world, increase your awareness of your inner being, your thoughts and contemplations. Meditation assists us in becoming grounded with the Earth, centred with spirit, and in realizing we are one in Spirit and with the Universe. It is also known to increase and strengthen our psychic abilities, helping us to communicate, visualize more clearly and trust our intuition.
During meditation, we visualize our own personal space that assists us in feeling peaceful, joyful and complete. While creating a place that leaves us feeling serene, encourages the release of nagging thoughts within our minds. Also while exploring our personal place of serenity we are capable of creating whatever we wish that will help us feel most comfortable. It may be a tranquil beach, a path with beautiful flowers that leads you somewhere magical, whatever your heart desires that will bring about comfort, peace and joy. Depending on what you are trying to acheive during meditation, you may also visualize an object that attains feelings of complete happiness. When thinking of an object, this improves our focus on something positive rather than negative or persistent thoughts. To create these aspects that give us a sensation of serenity or happiness, helps to change our focus and we exit meditation feeling relieved and rejuvenated..
Many people find they have difficulty with meditation, the inability to clear their minds from thought or the capability to focus. Over time and practice they find that it becomes easier and these thoughts do disappear and calm. There are people who also find that certain techniques work far better for them than others. It's in finding a technique that best suits you and assists in feeling comfortable and calm. Listening to meditation music is very beneficial to meditating, as music is also a form of relaxation. It is best to go into meditation without expectations, let yourself flow into this new state of mind allowing yourself the time and patience to succeed. We are capable of becoming more aware of ourselves through meditation and releasing negative thoughts, negative experiences, and attachments. Meditation is a practice that may be performed at any given time, any where you are capable of silencing your mind, and have absolutely no distractions. It can also be accomplished in any position, and may depend on the meditation technique you are using. Sitting, laying down or while standing doing dishes, it all depends on your comfort zone. There are several meditation techniques practiced, each depending on what you are wanting to accomplish within this tranquil state.
